To prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as influenza, chickenpox, enterovirus, and viral gastroenteritis on campus, schools are requested to strengthen health education promotion and related preventive measures. Schools should also implement thorough environmental disinfection, case management, cluster event reporting, and relevant infection control measures.

According to surveillance data from the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC), during the 5th week of 2024 (January 26 to February 1), there were 91,436 outpatient and emergency visits for influenza-like illness nationwide. As Taiwan is currently experiencing a peak flu season coinciding with the start of the school term, the risk of disease transmission in schools has increased. Schools are therefore requested to implement the following preventive measures to prevent cluster infections and curb the spread of diseases:
(1) Strengthen health education on common infectious diseases in schools, including influenza, chickenpox, enterovirus, and viral gastroenteritis. Remind faculty, staff, students, and parents to practice proper hand hygiene and observe cough etiquette.
(2) Faculty and staff should practice self-health management, monitor students’ health conditions, and provide timely care for individuals exhibiting respiratory symptoms, fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. Promote the concept of "staying home when sick" for both school and work, and ensure the reporting of cluster infections and implementation of infection control measures to prevent outbreaks.
(3) Schools should conduct regular environmental disinfection, focus on disinfecting high-touch areas, maintain proper handwashing facilities, and ensure that public spaces, classrooms, and dormitories are well-ventilated to prevent prolonged exposure to enclosed environments.
