Recently, Chinese media have reported safety concerns regarding prank grenade toys. These products fall under the category of prank toys and are subject to mandatory inspection as announced by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology, and Inspection (BSMI). Before being imported or released from the factory, they must pass BSMI inspections to comply with CNS 4797-3 and other relevant regulations. Only products bearing the inspection mark are allowed to be sold in the domestic market.

Furthermore, during multiple inspections of the aforementioned imported products in 2024, BSMI found that the noise levels generated did not meet the required standards. As a result, their importation was prohibited. Additionally, these toys may produce small splinters upon explosion, which could pose a risk of injury, especially if directed at sensitive areas such as the eyes.

The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) conducted multiple inspections on imported prank grenade toys in 2024 and found that their noise levels did not comply with the relevant regulations. As a result, their importation has been prohibited. Additionally, these toys may produce small splinters upon explosion, posing a potential hazard, especially if directed at the human body (e.g., eyes). Schools are therefore requested to educate children and teachers on the importance of purchasing toys with product inspection labels and to discourage the use of prank grenade toys to prevent possible harm.
