AWARD CEREMONY 14:30 - 15:30 PARTICIPANT CLEAN-UP 15:30 - 16:00
Participants should make a poster and tabletop display for their experiment. They won't do a presentation, but they should be ready to talk to the judges and answer questions about their experiment. Here is how they will be scored:
SCORING RUBRIC
Criteria 1: Research Topic [10 Points Total] Clear and focused purpose
Demonstrates the impacts that pre-existing conditions (e.g. shape, temperature) may have on volcano behavior How project is appropriate to field of study
The experiment's reactions relate to chemistry Testable using the scientific method
The experiment can be measured with physical traits like explosion height, volume, etc
Criteria 2: Experiment Design [20 Points Total] Variables and Controls
defined
appropriate
complete
Follows the scientific method properly
The experiment follows the steps of the scientific method as outlined by this guide
Project demonstrates the research question well The experiment's results answer the hypothesis of different volcano behavior based on different
conditions
Criteria 3: Project Execution [30 Points Total] Methodical data collection and analysis
The way the data is collected and presented is logical and effective
Reproducibility of data and results
The method of experimentation is simple and convenient to replicate for future projects; the results are not improbable
Sufficient data collected to support interpretation The results are backed up with a considerable amount of data and proper analysis is provided
Criteria 4: Visual Presentation [20 Points Total] Logical organization of content
The presentation has a clear and logical structure of organization
Graphic design
Project has aesthetic design and well-made
infographics
Complete and appropriate
