HPA gives out holiday and heat reminders
With the Dragon Boat Festival tomorrow and the season transitioning into summer, the Health Promotion Administration (HPA) yesterday reminded people, especially those with chronic diseases, to be mindful of heat-related illnesses and cautioned against overeating during the holidays.
As the weather is expected to get hotter, people should be mindful of health risks posed by high temperatures, especially those with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or cardiovascular or kidney diseases, as they are more susceptible to heat injuries, the HPA said.
It also provided three tips to help people prevent heat injuries: stay cool and dress according to the environment, drink water frequently and according to a doctor’s suggestion, and remain vigilant of signs of heat-related illness.
